Hypalon raft baffle repair

Ok, we dug out the Riken's yesterday to give them the once over and found that one of our small Pioneers has a blown baffle.

I am not real keen on tackling this repair myself. I'm in Salt Lake but regularly make it in to Colorado and to the northwest. Anyone have a place they recommend for such repairs?

Thanks,
DanCan

Stitches N Stuff.
D 9er

He can fix it for you good as new. He's in SW Colorado. But, be prepared. He has a bunch of neat stuff you will realize you need when you see it.

I can highly recommend these guys...

Inflatable Raft Repair Specialists - Boat Repair

They do the repairs for a lot of the local whiter water shops, Down River Equiptment and AAA out of Denver. I had them replace a blown floor in my old STAR self bailer. They did an excellent job.

Sid is reluctant to take it on... not really interested in doing it although one of his guys is thinking about doing it.

AAA out of Denver would be my next choice, especially if it is not a big deal to get it over there. Call them to chat about it. 303-296-2444. Good Luck.

Remaining Chambers?

How many chambers do you have remaining? A blown baffle is not a simple fix, and is likely to cost near as much as the boat is worth. If you have thwarts and a bailing floor I would just live with it, unless you're doing some kind of crazy water where you're likely to pop a Riken's elephant-like hide.

If the boat goes to DRE it will end up in my shop. I have done a ton of baffle work. I just did two baffles in a Riken a couple months ago. The total cost was $700. One of the two was severely blown up and the other had just come unglued in a small section. The cost of a baffle repair varies greatly depending on the severity. If one spot has come unglued and the rest is still solid it could be $150. If the whole baffle has come apart and needs to be fully rebuilt you could be looking at $500.

The little Pioneer has 2 chambers in the outside tubes is all. Plus the 2 thwarts. With the baffle blown, if I get a leak, the whole outside of the raft goes flat... at this point not much more than a fishing raft.

I'm at least going to have it looked at to see what it would cost to repair.
