Diamond plate or cut and weld

Looking for a little advice. So, I can only go 31" wide on an aluminum box and not finding anything out there that will work within this range without going all the down to 26". I did find a diamond plate box that was 30". I worry about the sharp edges on the diamond plate even though it will not have any direct contact with the boat. Or I can order a kitchen box and cut it down to desired length. That is quite the costly adventure without knowing how it will turn out and having a welded seem down the middle. Any one have any good advice on this issue?

Much appreciated and cheers

Try Leo at Montana Raft Frames. He'll make an aluminium one for you but he's pretty slammed this time of year.

This would be your best bet. Cy made me one a few years ago for my old boat that was 32" inches wide. Wasn't nearly as expensive as a kitchen box would be, not the mention the extra cost of cutting it down.

Down River Equipment has all their boxes made to spec as well. They can crank you one out pretty quick. Their sale is this weekend so you may get a discount if you call and order tomorrow.
