CE Smith Multi Sport Trailer

Hello all,

During our recent downtime I have been researching my future raft/trailer setup. I drive a 2.4 L 4-cylinder Rav4 and am trying to keep the setup lightweight. Does anyone have opinions on putting a 13ft raft with a light fishing raft on a trailer like the CE Smith or Malone MicroSport? Pros and Cons?

Thanks

Seems you could make that work. You'd probably add 100+lbs of wood/metal adding bunks, plus a 100# raft and 50# of frame. Maybe 100# of total frame if it's a fishing rig.

Your Rav4 wouldn't win any land speed records, but could pull it.

Honestly you'll be fighting the wind at highway speeds more than fighting weight.

Makes a big difference where you live and altitudes too. I had a landcruiser for a long time and it was a total dog at 12,000 feet but my eco boost twin turbo with half the displacement is an absolute monster regardless.

theusualsuspect,

I am curious and not familiar with the term eco boost

Is your vehicle a Ford Truck?

Ford is doing smaller displacement forced-induction motors instead of the old big displacement slow-revving torque motors.

Ecoboosts in F150 pickups are 3.6L 6spd (until 2014) and 3.5L 10-speed drivetrains after 2015.
