Carlisle 2-piece?

I can get a good deal on Carlisle Oars, and was trying to decide between the 2-piece and 1 piece oar set. I was leaning for the 2-piece for transport purposes, unless there is a loss in performance with these. If any can comment on this it would be appreciated.

How could the "lose" performance?

Oh, I dont know... that is is why I am asking. Perhaps they might flex more at the joints, failure is common or some other thing I am not thinking of? Basically wondering if someone has a good reason to recommend not getting these.

I am looking at 2 piece oars also, where did you find them on sale? Many people I boat with have the break down oars and never hear of any issues. Much easier to pack in and the price point are the reasons I am buying a pair.

I'll bite

So what makes one type of oar better than the other? And what's with the weights on the handle?

Carlisle

The 2 piece carlisle weighs more than the solid shaft.

Material, feel, "snap", durability, balance..... all these things contribute to a quality oar. The counter weights help balance the weight felt by the oarsman.
