Bullshit Colorado VIN inspections

I need to register a homemade trailer. It has no VIN so I need a VIN inspection. Where a VIN number will be assigned. Weld county instructed me to make an appointment with the state patrol for this. I called today and made the soonest appointment I could, June 13th. That's an fn month from now. This is stupid. We made it the fn law to help prevent theft but he we implemented this like idiots. Why can't county officials look at the trailer? Are we really fighting crime by having a cop look at our ratty trailers? Couldn't someone lower paid and less trained look at shitty trailers with no VINs.

I guess my bitch is that this process shouldn't take this long. Ironically I'm going to switch plates from my other trailer till this is remedied. Huh I tried to follow the law but the law is forcing me to break laws. WTF

Your city police department should also be able to do it, and could probably do it much sooner.

I've had the state police's barrack mechanic inspect my truck for a salvage title...having a cop do it seems silly.

This state will have to pry my Oklahoma tags from my cold dead hands. No emissions, no trailer tags, no inspection, no dmv, $15 a month insurance....and I can drive in other states without fear of harassment.

Uppity Fabricators makin their own Trailers

G D uppity fabricators makin their own trailers-n-shit.; ....depriving established trailer fabricators of their rightfully unearned profit. What the hell is this world coming to? State police have better stuff to do like saving lives, rescuing puppies, escorting governors n such. Give em a break. The poor guys and ...gals are getting run down by the pot smokers on our highways while the legislature has them hemmed in like the remainder of the shit in our society....

Your local law enforcement must be understaffed. I had to have the same thing done a few years ago here in Chaffee County. The officer was at my house the next day....

State Patrol was only doing them on scheduled days and maybe once per month. Had a sheriff deputy do mine and he came to my house. I'd try that route.

In COS when I went through this the State Patrol "offered" me a spot literally 3 weeks later. I drove to Pueblo the next day.

Follow up. You have to get a temporary tag from the DMV first. THEN go to State Patrol or wherever, THEN back to DMV after VIN approval. Don't show up at SP w/o temp tag, they will not be happy.

Problem is temp tag is very short term. When I pointed out to DMV the tag expired before the SP next open spot they finally gave me an extension.

Then someone at the office said try Pueblo which worked out for me.

try doing it on the eastern plains. That's the ticket for getting shit done with govt done fast.
Sterling, Fort Morgan, anywhere out there will be able to help you WAY sooner.

We've never had to wait very long in Delta. Try calling the State Patrol and ask for there DOT specialist, get all the information for what you need to do and see if you can take it to him. Worth a try, that kind of stuff if always easier in a small town.
