Broken K-pump 220

Second time using it and it broke! My buddy, who hasn't used this pump before, was inflating the floor of my raft yesterday and the plunger came right out of the pump on the up stroke. Can't imagine that he would have pulled it out that hard, as he's a pretty competent dude.

I'm wondering if these things aren't meant to be used in cold temps--it was 25F outside. The rubber ring seal popped off and was floating around the inside, and I had a hell of a time trying to fix this thing on the fly. Didn't want to disassemble in the cold weather, as my numb fingers would have surely dropped all the little pieces.

Can these be repaired? Or am I just out $150 after 1.5 uses?

They will take care of it for sure. Are you sure the o-ring wasn't the spare they provide and store on the inside?

Bummer of a deal, but they will make it right. I hope you have better luck with your next one, I sure love mine.

Contact K-Pump and they will have you mail it back to them, then they'll fix it and send it right back. I broke two pumps over the last couple years and sent them both back this spring. They serviced and fixed them for me and advised that I should clean and lubricate mine more often, good info and a great company to deal with.

Thanks for the advice! Didn't even realize it had a warranty. Emailed them and will send this puppy in for repair.

I'd suggest calling before you send it. He may send you a new pump along with postage to return the one in your possession. That's what he did when I had an issue a few years ago.

Called him. His name is Jim and he is awesome. Told me how to fix it myself with a little PVC cement, but if I didn't want to or it didn't work to just send it in and he'd send me a new one or fix it. Also offered to send me a gauge for the inconvenience and informed me that I've been pumping my raft with the wrong valve adapter. What a stand-up dude!

BTW, there is a useful you tube video that shows quite clearly how to dis- and reassemble those pumps.
