6'4" #240 is pretty much me, but I have taken off about 20 pounds this summer so down to #220. I really haven't ever had any issues buying gear. XL or XXL fits every time...almost. When it comes to "gear" pants the only thing I can reliably get in a long enough inseam is the Prana stretchy pants and REI was making some convertible pants in a tall that worked. Haven't bought REI in a couple of years so YMMV.
Beware of NRS sizes - they ALL run smaller than other companies' sizes - take a look at their size chart. The upside is they often have more sizes than other companies.
Also 6'4"
NRS splash jacket, splash pants, and hydroskin are all XXL for me.
NRS shirts, sadly, are a no-go unless I want a crop top. This sucks. I really liked their latest button ups.
I've starting going the route of fishing waders and boots for some of the colder trips. It's nice to be able to load the back of a boat in freezy waters.
Columbia sportswear has a good selection of XLT clothing. I am basically same size as you and dislike greatly buying 2X stuff that seems frumpy for lack of a better word. Most of the XLT stuff I buy is perfect. A LT would be nice, but ogres can't be choosers.
Standard kokatat XL might be a little short, maybe. I have a standard XL expedition that fits about perfect for 3 season use. Gets a little tight with a wool sweater for ice rescue.
I have a XL Tall kokatat .mil suit. Little long for me but works good over winter layers. Probably would fit you great. I have $700 into it with fresh gaskets and less than one season on it. If you were really interested I might be talked out of it.
L/XL Kokatat green jacket would fit you fine. I find the l/xl a little big in the summer and step down to m/l. I have a 44" chest.
I understand you perfectly because I also have such problems. The easiest thing would be to order clothes because in that case, you will know for sure that it is your size and you will have no problem. Most of my clothes are personalized because I am big and I can’t find clothes that fit me well. This fact allows me at the same time to always have unique clothes and not to be like the others and I like a lot this fact. I often use Clothing Printing Companies | Printing | Mato & Hash to write different personalized quotes or images on my clothes and something amazing comes out every time.
