Attaching Raft to Winch Hook Without D-Ring Destruction

Hi everyone,

I did a few searches and hunted around for pictures but I can't seem to find the shots I've seen show the way folks attach their rafts to their winch hooks. I know some people have created three-point towing systems to distribute the load. Can you pass along the way you attached your boats? I don't want to rip off a D-ring.

Thanks.

Josh

I took a 20' tow strap from hazard fraught, cut about 3 feet out of the middle, overlap sewed it back together, and added a big ass D ring to it to winch from. The loops from the tow strap go over each oar tower, the strap runs under the bow, and the D ring connects to the winch. Makes a world of difference, especially when the raft is loaded with a bunch of gear, as it lifts the bow as you winch and gives you way better leverage and saves your D rings. I know Dr Andy has a video somewhere on the buzz of the same type setup, but I can't find it this morning, so here's a trailer pic.

I do very similar....red 1 inch webbing (so I can see it in the captains bag where I stash it)....loops tied in ends, slipped over the oar towers, up under the front of raft and I pull it through the front Handle....I don't even use a ring or carabiner, just slip the front loop through the winch clip....works fine and cheap....Yo, Chet

That was the thread I was looking for!! I used the strap method y'all suggested. Here are the results. It worked great! Josh Spoon built the hitch post for me. Thanks again for all the help!
