Aire Bakraft Review

Here is a link to a review I have been doing on the Aire Bakraft Packraft.

https://backpackinglight.com/forums/topic/105094/

I have had it 2 summers now and am really enjoying it. There are a few little improvements that could be made but over all I really love paddling it.

I will work on getting some more pictures up.

Thanks for your review and follow-up.
I just ordered 2, and can't wait for it.

As an FYI - Aire is closing out the current versions of the bakraft and bakraft expedition. We have 2 of the expeditions They are switching to a new hull fabric that can be welded.

The closeout prices are good and free shipping is included.

Yes, i spoke to AIRE and determined that i want the current model with the discount price. I got both of them now, played with one of them at a local salt water slough, and i really like the BAKraft so far. It's SOOOOOOOO light compared to my Super Lynx or Sea Tiger

Do you mean you got one of the new welded seam bakrafts for the discount price? or Just that you picked up one of he close out bakrafts (green with the stitched hull seam) that is a newer version than the one you had?

I've got the expedition model, which I love. I'm curious what they're changing with the new model? Is there something I should watch out for with my 'old' model?

The new fabric is easier for them to work with as a manufacturer and will ultimately produce a better product that will withstand more abuse. I believe they felt the tradeoff in ability to produce the boats and wear resistance outweighed the small increase in weight of the boats.

What I got from AIRE is that the new BAKraft will have different fabric, which allows them to be Welded (better resistance to abrasion) instead of sewed like the current version.
They will be a little heavier due to the new fabric, but D-ring or other accessories can be glued on if one wishes.

Sizes and Shapes will stay the same.

I just can't pass the discount they have now, so i got 2

How small does it roll up? I do some solo bike assisted shuttle paddling with my truck, but the ability to throw this into a backpack on my bike, or even a kid trailer is pretty appealing. Would that be practical with the BAKraft?
