36" dry box in 36" frame

Simple question related to sizing a new dry box for a new used 16-foot cataraft that I just purchased. The cataraft has a Down River 5 Bay Deso frame. It came with a dry box, but the box sits on top of the frame bars. I would like to purchase a dry box that fits in-between the frame. The inside measurement of the frame is 36". Most dry boxes I have looked at are 26, 36, and 40+. I would like to purchase a 36 dry box. Im concerned is if there is any deviation in the dry box that it may not fit. Is this something that I should be concerned about? Should I look for box that is narrower than 36? Thanks for the input.

what does it sit on?

can you add a picture? Do you mean that the whole box sits above the frame, or that it has tabs that it sits on?

you can see that my frame is single rail, so it's less of an issue...

T.O. Mac - off topic, but how do you have that tractor seat mounted to your dry box? I'm playing the foam vs. seat game right now. Thanks-

I will add pictures tonight. The dry box that came with the cataraft is 40" wide and seats on the lower frame bars. Dry box has tabs, but obviously are not being used because the box does not drop in-between the frame.

You can either move your tabs down. I know that requires a welder. Or you can move your drop rails out a couple inches and just cut new pipe for your spreader bars.

If you are concerned about the length dimension you can order a 35 1/2" drybox for the same price thru Cascade River Gear. It will just be a special order and not in stock. You could also call and ask them to measure the box in stock and verify that it is not wider than 36". Call and talk to Cameron. He will hook you up.
