Nice video. Why is upset one of your least favorites? I love that rapid.

Thanks everyone, your responses are truly appreciated!

My first two runs through this rapid were not as clean of a run. The first time it was the first run of the morning on a Oct/Nov trip and I was trying to stay dry so I took the right line and ended up in the hole and upside down faster than I knew what was going on.

The second run we stayed up right but did not make the line we wanted. This time I tried to run left line and hit the upper hole too hard and that pushed right back into my friend the big Upset hole. We hit that wave so hard it folded the front of the 18' SOTAR so far that it almost hit my passenger in the head.

This time as you can see was much less challenging and actually has changed my onion of the rapid. I was in the Blue SOTAR and I was sweating bullets going in this time and it was a piece of cake. So next time going to run LEFT.

Thanks again everyone you support makes the effort worth it!

J.

Left line is super fun for sure. Just miss that lateral at the top by a bit and keep pushing left into the wall. Laterals will continue to push you back towards center so you'll never go too far left.

The top lateral is actually a really fun hit if you do it correctly i.e. tee into the wave with some speed. Its at a 45 degree angle to the current, so you gotta hit it with your bow point at a 45 degree angle towards the wall. On my first trip down the Canyon I hit it dead center and it was the biggest hit of the whole trip for me. If you don't tee into it...you'll probably flip...

Not gonna lie...kinda wanna try my luck at the hole just hitting it straight on with speed next time. Recovery is pretty easy for this rapid...so its one of the better places to flip a boat in the canyon.

Left IS the run as far as I'm concerned. T up to the laterals and try to hit the wall. You'll never get there but you'll get a nice view of the hole on your way by.

Left is most definitely the run at any level. You just break the laterals at the top of the rapid and get as close to the wall as you can as mentioned. The left run is most commonly referred to a 'Toad's Wild Ride'!
