I called one of the Shuttle companies that in the past used to do boat tows. He told me that no one is doing these anymore. Apparently they used to get business from commercial rafting companies but they now all take out at Birch Creek. I haven't followed up on this to make sure it is true so if you find someone who does do tows please let me know.

When are you running it? Have you looked into taking a motor and towing yourselves?

I'm looking into that. May buy a Suzuki 2.5 hp outboard that weighs 27 pounds, fits in a dry bag. I'd love to run this, maybe we can join up. Thanks.

We just floated it last week, 1972 4hp "big" Johnson 2stroke pushed 4rafts no problem. 1 gallon fuel, ran out just shy of Leslie.

FYI - With a motor, you then need to have your boat registered (depending on your state). Also a boat with a motor from out of state requires a $20 invasive species permit instead of a $7 for non-motorized. Also note the frequent boat checks are made at Leslie.

Hey all - I have a crew running the Lower Owyhee from Rome to Birch Creek, launching this Friday. Anyone done the trip recently and know the conditions of the Birch Creek takeout? We called a couple of shuttle companies and they seem to think the road is fine. However, seems like there has been a lot of rain in the forecast...Thank you!

We have taking out at Birch for the last 6 Fridays in a row including last week in the rain storm, it was slow going but fine. I heard from a Jordan Valley Local that it rained 3.5" over the last week there. Good to see water again for the short term ...
