Dominguez Escalante

I am looking for information on Dominguez Escalante section from Delta to Whitewater. Put-in/take-out? Campsites along the way? Day hikes to do along the float? Any cool historical stuff (pictographs...etc.).

Any river info is appreciated as well.

Im reading cars get broken into a lot in Whitewater. I plan on doing 2-3 nights from Delta to Whitewater.

What does everyone suggest for where to leave my car for the days I am on the river? Leave it up at the put-in? Could I find an Uber when I get to Whitewater, since its only a few miles outside of Grand Junction?

Use the search function. This topic has been discussed in depth.

I've had mediocre luck finding good info with the Moutainbuzz search feature. Some of the info you posted last year doesn't sound accurate as well.

Most float from Escalante to Whitewater. The put-in at Escalante is easy. The takeout at Whitewater requires a boat carry under a railroad bridge and up a hill, which would suck with a larger oar rig.

Good camping is found along the way and hiking up Dominguez Canyon is worthy.

I haven't heard of recent good options for protecting your vehicle at Whitewater.

It's class II regardless of flow.

Please explain to me what part of this is not accurate:

There is access at Bridgeport too, but you have to carry under a trestle and up a small hill. There are a couple rocky class II rapids on the run you can scout and run them or line down the bank if your uncomfortable, but it is definitely beginner water. I have paddled a 12' aluminum lake canoe down it.
it took me about 15 seconds to find these:

Thanks, still can’t find any good info on how to avoid a car break-in at whitewater. Most of the links you sent are all very old, and the link for a shuttle did not work. Only shuttle service I found around GJ said they would charge me $200.

Anyone know if I could get a taxi or Uber around whitewater to drive me back to Delta?

Wow. You're amazing.

I think it's inaccurate or misleading to say Whitewater has a "boat ramp." To me that implies you can get a trailer to the river. Maybe it doesn't mean that to you.

Not that you're trying to be a jerk, but in the 15 seconds you took to tell this guy to use the search function you could have shared some of your knowledge of the stretch in a concise manner.

What is Bridgeport takeout like? Does it have as many issues with theft as whitewater?

I was going to suggest the search function as well, lmyres is correct; this has been discussed in depth including a Mtn Buzz classic that I was unable to find "I almost died".
Unlike many things on this sight, the search function works.

The "under the tracks" take out is Bridgeport not Whitewater. It's also the answer to how to not have your car vandalized at Whitewater. And, yes, it sucks as a take out as does Whitewater.
I doubt that you're going to find a good shuttle option.

I did search. Everything I found was years old or did not answer my questions in detail.

I have a 14 foot raft and another friend. Think the two of us could get my raft from takeout at Bridgeport to where my trailer will be? I have never seen the takeout so not sure what to expect.
