IMHO Wire fence is always a favorite, hiking, almost always sheep and horses on the hillside across the river. Three Canyon is another good spot to layover.

Didn't you used to be able to obtain a permit from the tribe to visit river left? Is this no more? We always just stayed on the right side though.

Used to yes, as of last year, I believe, it changed. BLM response is to contact the tribe for further information.

Wire Fence--I'm particularly fond of Wire Fence II, though they're all fine; at low water you could easily use the beach which fronts Wire Fence Rapid--is a wonderful spot. Kind of mid-trip. Lots of cottonwoods for shade. A short hike behind the camp leads to some absolutely incredible vistas. I don't know if this'll be the case at your flow, but Wire Fence II at some flows forms a nice pool for cooling and bathing. A nice early layover can be had at Jack's Creek. Have fun!

It always seems to me that people tend to stack up at the wire fence camps. Chandler canyon river right is a good spot as is three canyon. If I were you I'd pick a spot in the middle of my trip before wire fence and just layover. Then you don't have to compete with people for those wire fence spots. A while back we chose to push past wire fence and it's a long way to any other camp downstream (Range Creek). So if you got there and found them all occupied it could be a long day. There is a nice camp across from the Ute ranch but it might have burned up in a fire.
