Telluride info

Hey, I am going to be in Telluride June 10th-17th, and I need some info. Is there a good section on the San Miguel that is mellow class II? I am thinking of bringing my boat and want to take a 3 and 5 year old and the parents in law rafting/fishing. So I am looking for something mellow. Is it worth it to bring my raft set-up?

Also, I am looking to get out for a day of class IV-V kayaking. I can drive a couple of hours any direction. I am up for anything within the easier class five range. I was thinking about the upper Animas, but am up for whatever. If anybody in that area wants to paddle give me a ring.

Thanks,

Clayton

So I can answer the first part of your question. No, there will be no mellow class II on the Miguel while your here. The Miguel is often referred to as a "class II river with a class IV swim". It is all very fast water with no eddies, with run off being a late this year, you may be near peak IE. class III. No kids, no fishing, sorry.

Thanks. It looks like the raft will stay at home. I still need somebody to kayak with though.

The Montrose town run would be fun for a family float, but it's 1.5 hours away. I think the closest/best class 4-5 stuff is going to be over in the Durango area.

Piedra may still be running... Which would be worthwhile.
