Standard hand signals on the river

First my only Internet access is from a tablet or phone, they won't search these forums directly. How ever I did do a Google search and came up with multiple different signals.
Is there an accepted standard? What do I teach my kids that would be helpful?

Have you watched the NRS videos on their website? I can't remember if they are on one of the rescue vids. They are kind of hard to explain, and I have seen people from one area do it differently than another, so I would be helping you much with my west coast dialect lol

pre trip will clarify but recently I learned th 1-5 method
1.......2 ......3......4......5

those are your slots so a 1,3,1 would start left working to center and pull back to the left. Makes sense to me and more precise than left, center, left especially in more technical situations. Easier than shouting you can just throw gangster signs before dropping in. One finger off the side of the boat means I'm peeing.

Yeah because you know how we roll all up in here in NoDak, gang signs is how they communicate on the oil rigs.
And thanks for peeing in the Yellowstone, in some twisted way that brings üs closer together. Cause yeah that eventually ends up being my drinking water, thank god that they filter the silt out first.
