September releases on the Chama?

Has anyone heard the plan for dam releases on the Chama River for September? I've called the BLM office several times, and no one has gotten back to me.

We are planning a 9/15 launch based on info. we got back in July. The BLM guy at the launch for The Box told us we could expect weekend releases of at least 500 through the fall. Watching recent USGS streamflow data kinda confirms this.

I heard back from Mark Sundin, BLM river manager at the Taos field office, on Friday. They are planning on 600 cfs Friday-Sunday through September. He also said reports that due to the channel changing rafters need to take out at Chavez Canyon were exaggerated. There are a few new rocks, he said, but nothing that would warrant changing the usual take-out location. We're putting in this coming Friday, I guess we'll see what "a few rocks" actually means.

Thanks! I got a hold of someone at BOR who said the same thing. I'd be interested to hear how your trip goes. Have fun!

Ran Chama last week Vado to Big eddy. It was great. Saw commercial groups with 16 footers. we were all in 13 footers to big eddy. No problems at all with rocks. It braids out a couple of times but nothing to worry about. Honestly only real rapids are Argon and Skull? The only real horizion line down there in the last 10 miles? We didnt have a map but got to look at one befor launch. Camps are great, trees are huge. It was a great trip. Chavez take out didnt look appealing, neither did the camping in the last 10 miles as most of it is road acess.
