Riggins to Lucile

How is this run right now? I've ran it plenty in the summer at lower flows but never at high water. Looks to be around 30K right now. I know Ruby can get really big on the other side, just wondering how it is starting in Riggins. Does it get big anywhere, or just washed out? Thanks in advance.

There are a few rapids that can flip boats. You can road scout everything. You do have to get out of your car to look at Time Zone by the bridge. I'd look at Time Zone and Chair Creek rapids if you're concerned. The others are easy to see too. Most of the big stuff can be missed but you need to line up early.

We did this stretch (vinegar to Lucille altogether) with the boy scouts last year. Was around 32K when we launched if memory serves. On the section from town on down it went like this; Time zone was kinda washed out, Chair had a stupid huge wave at the top, T-up and hit it hard (my oldest son was riding the bull on chair and got launched in a really impressive fashion...landed about 10-15 feet in front of the boat). Trap creek was pretty washed out too. The really scary stuff was Ruby and lake creek...One boat flipped in Ruby (not ours). vinegar was almost completely washed out.

I ran this stretch a few weeks ago at 22K and then last weekend at 40K. If my memory serves, at 22K Chair was sort of middle left run, Trap creek is mostly middle-right, and Fiddle creek was a far right side sneak if you want to avoid most of it. You can't see Fiddle Creek from the road at all. At 40K everything was washed out except Time Zone and Chair, as mentioned above. Really fun wave train in Chair at that flow.

Here a pic of the waves in Chair at around 40K or so. Really fun safe spot to play around. We did a few laps on that rapid in our paddlecat.

There is Lake Creek last weekend just for shits before flows dropped down again. We got overconfident in Ruby and took a refreshing swim through the lower half of the rapid. We snuck around Lake Creek to the far left after that.

Great pics! Thanks for sharing. Do you know about how long it took you to run it?

From Riggins to Lucille, I think 2 to 3 hrs including a lunch break is a good estimate.
