Protecting the bottom

Hello all,

I have a cheap little dinghy (intex seahak II) that we sometimes take down the rivers here in newfoundland. It can handle some pretty decent rapids (class III+) as long as they're short and the potential danger from getting swamped is low. My question is how to make the bottom tougher against rocks? I thought of maybe glueing strips of vinyl flooring down the length of the boat. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

You can buy thin guage PVC material and glue it to the bottom, but would take a fair amount of material.

NRS sells 24 ounce inflatable kayak material that is pretty flexible and easy to work with.
