North Fork Smith - January 10, 2016

It looks to be a good winter for the California Smith. On the shuttle ride in you can see a ton of snow off in the distance. Hopefully things stay cold and the storms keep rolling. Here are some shots from yesterday:

Thanks Will... what is the typical season for the Smith down that way? I've only been in that area once, and it was in August of 2013, looked really low. I'm wondering when to hit that area, but have nice weather to go along with it.

The entire Smith drainage is low elevation and the boating season is typically during the rainy season from mid-November to May. The snow that the drainage does see certainly extends the season, but normally only to May. With that said, a rain storm in June could bump it up enough to run, but it would be difficult to plan for that.

Flows are not consistent on the Smith since it is so rain dependent, but February and March seem to have the most boatable days.
