Motor mount and rental for cataract

Hey gang -

I've been an avid mtn buzz reader for years, but this is my first post!

Anyway, does anyone have a motor mount and motor for rent for a cataract trip launching on the 22nd? We are a group of rafting guides from the Arkansas doing our season ending trip. I've personally done cat three times and only once with a motor..that lake Powell can be a mofo without a motor so I thought I'd throw it out there.

Any suggestions? I can drive anywhere in the state to pick up and drop off....

Feel free to PM me or respond with any ideas!

Thanks
Taners

Lake Powell dropped quite a bit and there is a current almost to DD take out now. Search for the forums for Cataract threads.

I don't know of places renting motors personally.

Row it out! The lake isn't that terrible. You can night float about half of it if you time it right and are willing to wake up a few times in the night to push off a sand bar or two. Motors are loud, take up space, and smell bad.

I was wrong this is my second post! Ha

thanks for the advice and while I am prepared to row out, which I have done before, the idea of motoring a bit through the lake to save time, energy, and people's patience sounds ideal.

motors are stinky, but so are groovers and most of our rookies have still not showered this summer so you can only imagine what that smells like.

Does anyone know if there's someone with a motorboat that would come shuttle us from the top of the lake to the takeout? Just a thought...

I agree with you about motors, I personally wouldn't go into Cat without a motor myself.

I know there was a thread on the forums with the exact same question and someone did post a name of company somewhere that rents it. That's all I know, search the forums.

Sheri Griffith Exp out of Moab. Might have to rent a boat as well but it's better than rowing out.

Someone was trying to make a go at tow-outs again....their info is posted somewhere here.

As a concillation prize...flows all the way past DD in spring. Hell, there was a rapid a half mile below the take out.
