Lochsa surfing

First day of the year on the Lochsa this past Sunday,. Really chilly, but a wonderful level for so early. I have a lot to learn with using and editing the gopro, and the first is to manage battery life so I don't run out BEFORE the most epic surf of the day. Oh well, next time. Termination is ALWAYS in.

That's some good surfing and a cool looking cat. Do you mind telling a little about it. I am always on the fence as to wether or not to get a cat for solo whitewater. They look like so much fun and a lot easier to haul around. Anyway cool video.

Thanks. The tubes are Sotar Legend, 11' (x 21"), single chamber per tube. The frame is a madcatr, 34" between tubes with a 2" drop for the seat. I absolutely love it, it is the perfect boat for doing all sort of silly things in when the water isn't too crazy high. When it gets high (maybe 6-7' on the Lochsa, depending on the section I run), I will break out the 12.5' Legend. The little boat is great because it surfs so easily, but then that is it's downfall as the Lochsa gets burly.

It is extremely light, not only due to the size and madcatr aluminum frame, but since it is single chamber there is less rubber weighting it down.

For sure, and that is why I did not pull back in the Falls. I was awfully chilly by then. 35 degrees when we put on, 38 when we got back to the top.

Ha! Did you miss the whole "Cartman" (the boat's name) line in a thread last winter? Yes, I got a second one but really WE did. Hubby started rowing the 12.5' on the Lochsa with me last year (Woot!). I got lucky, he was kind enough to just use the one we had, and I got a new, smaller one. I still get to use "his" boat when the water gets uber burly. It is such a fun boat!
