I have been real curious about the packrafts. Looks like a great time.

Rad! Wouldn't want to do that with plastic.

That is the coolest thing ever. I would have never thought to make a river trip loop like that. Reminds my favorite question I would always get when guiding - Do we take out where we put in?

funny, lots of smoke from wildfires, and they are having campfires...you would think there is a fire ban on, who knows how those fires start

Looks fun and much easier to manage a hike at ~6lbs of weight vs a 50lb kayak. I just might have to try it. It was interesting to see the one guy roll his raft. Did not know that was possible. Granted it was flat water and looks like the other rolls in miving water resulted in swims.

Poking at Alpaca's website had a link to biking and packrafting in Alaska.

I really would not want to do whitewater with that load.

Fun.

I was on that trip. Idaho had a statewide fire ban at the time. But the Forest Service did not. When we picked up our permit and asked if it was OK to cook over fires (saving us the weight and bulk of stoves and fuel) they told us it was fine as long as we used fire pans and hauled out our ashes.

We all got a good laugh out of the irony of both of their 'conditions'.
