How Safe is Rafting, Vail Daily

I made a feeble attempt to get some better information into the Vail Daily.

Vail Daily News for Vail and Beaver Creek Colorado - Blog

It didn't seem that long on my computer, but it may be overkill... Oh well,

Nicely done. I hope that tourists who are considering a raft trip read your post.

Thanks double D, it is a great article, I love how you call out the doctor who 'almost died' on shoshone, and the way you fluff the Vail companies! want to work the 23rd?

That's why they call me "The Fluffer". I have to get through this wedding first (the 18th) then I'll let you know when I come up for air. You're next, right?

Yeah, I don't know who the doc was on a trip with or what happend, but his letter set off my B.S. detector. FYI- I Googled him, and he is not from "Edwards" as he signed in the V.D., he practices in Dallas. Maybe he has a vacation palace in Cordillera or something.

That letter by the good doctor has to be one of the funniest things I've ever read. They say there's nothing wrong with Texans and I truly keep trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, but these repetitive stories make it hard.

"Nearly went through a dangerous rapid with whitewater and rocks with only a pfd and helmet." On shoshone? Whitewater? Where? Can you believe that the guide didn't throw a rope? Nuts. What else should they have been wearing in addition to a pfd and helmet? I'm working on a padded ball you could wear - gonna make millions down south. I can't believe the doctor takes the risk of getting out of bed every day.

His 10 year old was "emotionally traumatized" and cried for nearly an hour. Seriously - nearly an hour.

$100 says the guide tossed them on purpose to see their faces.

Yeah man, that's a great article. As a fellow guide, I actually feel worse for the guide who this happened too. First off, he's gonna get some flack at work just from that article. Second, I don't know what kind of system you have over there, but here on the Taylor, that would mean a substantial beer fine to the community fridge for all those swimmers. So yeah, I feel sorry for the poor guide who had to take these people.
