Home built rafting frame help needed

I am in the process of trying to build a frame for my river raft. i found some great instructions online. I am using 1 5/8th chain link tubing. I am having a hard time trying to find the wright size elbows and T fitting for this though. Home Depot and Lowes don't happen to have anything that will fit unless I went down to 1 3/8. which I hear is a bit small for a raft. Any Ideas would be great!

Thanks,

Aaron

I am building a frame as well out of the same tubing. I have found that nrs lowpro's fit nicely inside of the pipe, but are a bit prizey. I also used some fitting sold on frontierplay.com they are a bit large and bend the tubing when tightened down enough so the tubing doesn't spin. I was hoping to find some wooden dowels to reinforce the inside of the tubing.

Do some searching. There have been many such threads over the years, look especially for "games with frames' and other Chip threads. He does a lot with "alternative materials" for frame building. I haven't seen him around for a while, you might try PM'ing him directly also. Have fun!

Take out your set screws, drill a hole just a bit smaller than the set screw and put them back in. It holds bomber tight and keeps the pipe from ovaling.

Chain Link End Rail Clamps & Gate Braces - Page 43 - Hoover Fence Co. - Chain Link and Fittings Online Catalog

I built the same frame. I used these 1 5/8" end rail clamps. not exactly made for rafting... but they work for me and they are cheap!
