Gila SE Arizona shuttles?

We'll be in southeast Arizona the first week of May and, if conditions permit, we'd like to packraft down through the section of the Gila down by Stafford and Clifton. (Through what I gather is part of the National Riparian Conservation Area.)

Does anyone know of anyone around there who might be interested in hiring out to do a shuttle?

I looked at a 2013 thread here that suggested Gila Outdoor but I called them this morning and they no longer do shuttles nor know of anyone else. (And when I google "Gila Shuttle", I mostly come up with free casino transportation!)

Gila SE Arizona shuttles?

Johnny,

Contact Daniel Burrell, his cell number is 928-965-3708. He ran shuttle for my wife and I a couple of weekends ago.

Contact the BLM office in Sanford. Ranger Rich Law can give you updated conditions on the ramp and take out, plus any new nav hazards that may exist. He might also be able to connect you w some drivers. Love this stretch and you will have a great time.

Thanks Hooter. That fellow Daniel who was suggested above seems super responsive and helpful so I think I have the shuttle dialled.
I'll be talking with Rich when we get closer to the date re water level and any new news. Thanks again!

post trip notes

Just a quick note to say that Daniel Burrell 928-965-3708 worked out great for our shuttle. Super nice, totally on time etc. He's happy do more shuttles for folks in the future. River ranger Rich Law was very helpful: 928-348-4412.

We put in on May 1 with packrafts. The Gila was a bit over 100 cfs and the San Francisco not quite doubled that. The low water meant that we bumped and ground in a couple of the first riffles even in our packrafts - generally enough water after that. Took us about 3 hrs to the San F. where we camped. Less than 6 hrs from the San F. to the take out. A highlight of our short spring trip to AZ!
