Does someone make a better blade?

The design of the Carlise blades allow my retaining ring to get caught on them. I've seen this problem with all my fellow rafters. If the neck had a little different design this would not happen. Has anyone figured out how to prevent this problem?

ive seen two remedies. i wrapped tape to form a ramp on my girlfriends blades and she hasnt had a problem since. the other thing i have seen is people wrapping tape or putting a rubber stopper at the end of the shaft so the ring/rope/strap couldnt get to the blade.

I bought a used Cat and it came with Sawyer blades. THey have rounded out the lip that keeps the retaining ring from going back up. I took this design, bought some JB Weld-putty, mixed well and formed a ring of it smothing out the lip. Tried it out on the lower salmon this year and it worked great, even using rope tethers. I will modify the rest of my carlisle blades the same way this winter. (also bought a couple of Sawyer blades to replace a broken carlisle, about the same cost and they worked well)

try a few inches of pipe insulation, then stick the rest of the insulation inside your oar for floatation.
