Bimini stainless fitting?

Anyone replace their nylon fittings with stainless?

Has anyone found the nylon fittings to break over say a 3 year period or a big wind event... is it worth the $70 expense?

thanks buzzards.

Mine are nylon, 3 years and going way strong now. I drilled them to put different fittings on and abuse the hell out of them.

Thanks Alex, sounds sturdy enough, and i know you float a bunch.

that boataramadirect link you gave me is no longer valid (the one your buddy bought on ebay). but it seems they are now under a different name on ebay, "marine R/V" . Little more expensive than before (+ $40 or so) still a great deal.

Good to know, bummer about them not selling the cheap ones. Can you send me a link to the new place?

I have my plastic hardware mounted to the tubes with a hose clamp. I don't always take my bimini with me, but the mounted T-angles stay on the boat all the time, so they do get exposure to elements a bunch and still staying strong.

If it does break down the road on you, then upgrade to stainless, but I wouldn't pay extra up front to be honest.
