All you Mini-Maxers sound off..cooler question please

What brand and size of cooler are you running in the front bay of your Maxes? Does it fit tightly?

I am looking go as big as possible for cooler length. Do you think I could fit something that is 27 inches long between the tubes??

Thanks for the help. Hope you are all staying warm.

The interior width at the center is specced at 24".

And you need to account for the thwart knuckles, as those are likely to be in the area where the cooler will be mounted. I would not try to fit anything bigger than 25", and ideally not bigger than 23 1/2". You can wedge the cooler, but if you wrap your boat the cooler may become very difficult to remove, making the process of deflating/unwraping your boat more difficult. It will also increase the stress on the tube/floor joint, because the floor is built for a 24" width. If this will impact the life of the boat is tough to say, but it probably wont increase the useful life. I used a canyon pro cube 50 cooler in my mini me (same with) and it was a perfect fit. Unfortunately Canyon stopped making that particular model, but you could use the specs to judge the size.

yeti 45. Fits good between the knuckles, does not rub them.

Both the Engel 35 and Canyon 35 will fit nicely, and actually have more internal volume than the Yeti 45. Not to mention the price difference.
Canyon has a few "second" 35's available right now at a good deal.

I run a yeti 45 with the seat cover in my RMR Storm. I can row from it and also use it as an additional seat/leg rest at camp.
