Grand Canyon Colorado River Flows - January & February

This is a December 28, 2018, update from Heather Patno at Glen Canyon Dam.

The release volume from Glen Canyon Dam for January, 2019, will be 860,000 acre-feet. Hourly releases during weekdays in January will fluctuate from a low of approximately 9,100 cfs during the early morning hours to a high of 16,860 cfs during the afternoon and evening hours. On weekend days in January releases will fluctuate from a low of approximately 9,200 cfs during the early morning hours to a high of 16,850 cfs during the afternoon and evening hours.

The anticipated release volume for February is 740,000 acre-feet. This will be confirmed with a subsequent notification toward the end of January.

This notification confirms that the release volume from Glen Canyon Dam for January 2019 will be decreased from 860,000 acre-feet to 806,000 acre-feet.

Hourly releases during weekdays beginning January 11, 2019, will fluctuate from a low of approximately 8,500 cfs during the early morning hours to a high of 16,240 cfs during the afternoon and evening hours. On weekend days beginning January 11, 2019, releases will fluctuate from a low of approximately 8,500 cfs during the early morning hours to a high of 16,240 cfs during the afternoon and evening hours.

The anticipated release volume for February 2019 is 740,000 kaf. This will be confirmed with a subsequent notification toward the end of January.
