The World Global Electoral Map

What if the world had been able to vote in this past election? Somebody just sent this to me.

http://www.economist.com/Vote2008/

We might start to have some international good will again!

AS far as I know economist.com is not a very reputable resource. That being said I would have to say that map is someones opinion.

Although I am a far right republican it would be interesting to see the results if the entire world did a vote for who should be our next president! I highly doubt Africa would have been that blue!

ECarlson,
The Economist is a widely read, well respected magazine from the UK (The Economist - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). This comes from its website. It actually has a somewhat right leaning bias, and was in favor of the Iraq war. That said, it has impeccable journalistic standards. Africa might not be that blue, but are those African countries places that we really need to win over? From development loans, they're all pretty much in our pocket with the possible exceptions of Somalia and Zimbabwe. I think it matters alot more how our leader is seen in other regions that are not so dependent on us without a reciprocal dependency.

Concur that the Economist is a well respected magazine.

Now D, you've got the entire world voting for Obama, except a few countries in Africa, yet you feel the need to make up some weak excuse as to why those countries...a small percentage of the overall map...don't really count? That is indicative of a very narrow minded, single track mind. If nothing else, you are disenfranchising "those African countries" that "we [don't] really need to win over".

Isn't it our job to spread our brand of Democracy to the rest of the world?

Not surprising, they know Obama is going to pull out prematurely, and when he doe's he will leave a vacuum for Iran to come in and fuel the Shiite/Sunni war all over again. McCain would have supported the people of Iraq. Another Cambodia is on the way if Obama is not careful. If I was an Iraqi parent, there's no doubt where I would have placed my vote. Show's you how many good people are there. The ones that support Obama aren't voting for him because they think he's the better man. They'd vote for him because their goal is to overthrow the government once he pulls out. I feel for the good people of Iraq, they are so fucked.
