Political Topic

I know this has nothing to do with boating and considering there isn't much boating going on out there I thought I would share this link for people to mow over. Food for thought when it comes to the corporate world running things and looking out for their own pocket books. Some one has to suffer, mine as well not be them. Steve

Not really a politcal post but criminal. There are criminals everywhere and international law should punish as such whether it be corporations and/or individuals.

It's terrible that people trash this earth with such disregard for the impact it has on the present and the future. I saw the movie Lord of War last night and the way we have treated Africa is disgusting.

Can someone find us some leaders with ethics? It seems crazy to think this but maybe the Gates Fund with all of Buffets cash might be able to skip the bureaucracy and get some good stuff done.

I wish people would still speak up and make their voices heard. In a day in age when big media controls 95% of what you hear its amazing how they can muzzle the millions of people that demand better decisions from our leaders.

The good thing is the Dailys are loosing market share at 5% per year and the Blogosphere is gaining ground. I would love to figure out a way to let people virtually “march on Washington”. Some way for people to stand up and get their message across without having to physically be there.

Andy R.
Well put. And you can cyber-march all over washington and capital hill. Pending on your issue, media floods are always a good thing. All you have to do is get the office e-mail, phone number and physical address to the building you are targeting, ie. Hart Senate building, get the word out on the buzz and create a plan/date. I have a list of alot of congressman and senators from all over the nation and would be more than willing to share it with the people on the buzz who would like to make a repsectful collaborated stink on specific issues, let me know. Using a community like this to make a stand is awesome. I think what we should do is to determine the topics that are most important to us (clean waters, access to rivers, etc) and then figure out a who to send out petitions to.

I think it would be great if members could easily (one click) notify their representative on topics. But rather then submitting one long list, send an email every 10 minutes Monday to Friday so it is kind of annoying. I think that would be one of the best ways to get the person to pay attention. Maybe we could include something in the email that if the representative would like to have one long list of his/her constituents instead of flow of emails all they have to do is acknowledge they got the message and let us know their stance on it.

Andy,
My suggestion is that people from their respective states need to find some issues that are affecting their communities, get the correct information for their reps, congressman and senators, form a plan for their community and execute it. ie. submitt the concern and have a signing of the petition. Now, everyone should copy the petition and send it on their own once a day for a solid work week. It will be annoying but they will respond to it. Now, chose a different media outlet for each day you are submitting your petition, ie e-mail, phone, letter..... etc. to make it more of an effort. There are plenty of ways to get them to listen and would not mind being anyones resource on ways I have succeeded in lobbying.

Are there any online sites that facilitate this process? It seems like someone would have already made something for this.

Are you kidding? Sounds like you haven't paid your AW dues. Get over there and sign (pay) up. They (we) are looking out for our boating interests. AW might not get pot legalized, but they are all over access issues and looking out for our water ways.

Not sure if there are any online sites that will tell you what to do but there are sites that have local issues on hand that people can ralley around and I would be more than happy to console with any of them on how to go about addressing the issue/s with local, state and government authorities. Anyone interested pm me. Steve
