Phone numbers as words

I've seen more than a few people put their phone number in Buzz posts as 55five-one23-456seven.

Why not do all numbers? Is it a privacy/security issue? Would a phone number as all numbers really get hijacked or something?

They do it to avoid the spam bots, but I have never personally had an issue.

I know people who have posted their normal phone number and email address on this forum and were then barraged by telemarketers and spammers. Letters confuse the spam bots.

The basty craftards look for the pattern of numbers and spaces etc. They also see the @ symbol. so use (at) instead. Best to have an alias email or 2 for sites that might spam you.
