Hunting Updates

With Archery season ending in a couple of weeks and smoke pole season ending next week here in Colorado I wanted to see what everyone else was seeing in their area and the kind of luck they had. From what Ive seen here in the Vail Valley and talked to fellow hunters, its as though the elk were super vocal right before the full moon but have completely stopped.
What are you seeing/hearing out in them there woods?
Any luck? If so lets see pictures!

i unfortunately was not able to get out much at all.
my sightings include 8 deer, multiple within Recurve range.... no tag
5 coyotes in 3 different sightings.
2 bear, about 150 yards out.

and one elk at 40 yards. he never knew i was there and i didn't know the trail he took was there...

now i have been talked into picking up a leftover cow tag for first combined season.
But honestly, i am really looking forward to chasing some rabbits and other small game.

Yep. Quail season is close. I'm in a new area with a lot of jack rabbits. Are they good to eat?

Based on the one I've skinned and eaten, no - the whole thing tastes like tough, stringy, liver.

I don't mind liver taste. Maybe if it were cooked in a stew, it wouldn't be so tough.

They're talking finally! My buddy got into the elk last night and said there were lots of bugles. Headed to a good area tonight to hunt until Thursday, hopefully I can get into them. Wish me luck, Ill give an update when I come out of the sticks. Good luck to anyone else headed out!
