"Generational Theft"

Senator John McCain said that the $787 billion stimulus bill that passed the House today and will pass the Senate later today amounted to "generational theft" since it burdens future generations with the debt. McCain didn't mention what the $600 billion cost (now) of the Iraq War is. Maybe a "reverse inheritance"?

here we go again.

you should push the positive over the negative. it might be hard i know but if you want people to listen, that's were you need to start. show some proof about the benefits. remember mccain isn't president; obama is, so its more important what obama says and does, than mccain

and give references.

you can't change the past so don't waste your time.

He was on the radio yesterday and was talking about the bill, he said the republicans wanted a trigger in it so when the economy turns around the spending will stop but the dems shot that down. IMO because then they wouldn't have $150 billion for their socialist agenda. If they put that trigger in who knows maybe a "bipartisan" agreement would mean more than 3 republicans were in favor of the bill.

Fact: McCain called the stimulus bill "generational theft"
Fact: McCain did not call the $600 billion spent in Iraq "generational theft"

Doesn't that strike you as inconsistent? On one hand there's money that will be spent on Americans. On the other hand there's money being spent on non-Americans. Now tell me which is "generational theft." As far as references go, Google is a good starting place.

facts aren't nessecarily postive all the time so you know. or i guess you do not know. i was talking positive facts that would further your stance for the spending rather than state mccains position; which does nothing to further yours.

do you beleive we should not be helping rebuild iraq after what has happened?

So blowing $600B in Iraq is the justification for spending $800B here because McCain didn't call the war "generational theft". How are you going to feel about this bill when it blows up in our faces and we all pay for it when it doesn't miraculously save the world? Then we aren't just in $600B debt from a war but were $1.4T because our government thinks it can take the accountability out of the economy and bail everyone out.

Mike - By tonight the will be passed by both the House and the Senate. Obama could sign it as early as Tuesday. Do you think Obama's opponents will take your advice to let bygones be bygones? Of course not. The Republicans who opposed it didn't simply do so because of some details in the bill. They did so for "political cover" in case it doesn't work. Some, like Rush Limbaugh, openly want it to fail.

I think Riparian makes a reasonable point: huge spending is a burden on future generations, no matter where the money is going. Better that the "stimulus" money is going to Americans.

steve is every penny of the spending going towards americans(as in citizens) and is it neccesary?

do u need it more than the children in iraq? i guess you are better than these other human beings. think about that steve. what if you were the kids in iraq?

if that is not a greedy ass statement, if i have never heard one.
