The only area I know of up that way, is up Ute pass. You go pass the mine and you can take the second right turn, that would take you to Frasier. Lots of camping available off that road. The first right turn, right past the mine would take you back to a overlook of I70. There may be camping along that road, but I have never checked it out.

Thanks. Keep the ideas coming. We have a few weeks. Ute pass road did look promising, glad to have confirmation.
Heeney I am not sure about as it is right on the water an that is usually more regulated. Anyone confirm?

I found camping around the res sucks, unless things have changed. I was also really disappointed at the Green Res jump cliff last weekend, people just left all of their garbage along the road.

Not sure if this is still legal or not, but we have camped in the past for free on the upper Blue where the highway crosses the river. I can't remember if it as at the upper Blue takeout or further North where the highway crosses the river again. The pull out is on the east side of the highway. There is a good size parking lot there and there used to be a couple of nice spots by the river in the trees.
