If price is not an issue a nice Werner performance core, like the stikine is choice. Foam core blades helps the paddle float. Carbon fiber through out. Choice paddle

I paddled with a Mitchell Foam Core Blade Remedy for a few years and loved it.

If I had an unlimited budget I would probably get the Stikine:

Werner Paddles :: Our Paddles :: Whitewater:: Performance Core:: Stikine

but both of these wood paddles are top of the line as well:

Paddles are very personal choices. A custom wood paddle by Jim Snyder is as good as it can get IMO. Designed and built by a legend with a lifetime of refining his product, tougher than almost anything on the market, easier on the body than any other paddle I've used. Great for creeking, great for playboating. Mine is still fresh after many hundreds of runs, making it actually cheaper than the Werners I used to wear through. I use the Flow, a certain world class play boater I know uses Jim's paddles as well.

I killed a sho-gun a couple of years ago and replaced it with a powerhouse carbon.

The powerhouse carbon seems to be having a shorter life span than the sho-gun, though being a bit cheaper it's likely an even wash for myself.

I have a Werner Sho-Gun bent shaft in good shape for sale. I would say the Sho-Gun is the best shafted paddle on the market. I also make l Peak Performance Hand Paddles https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=3&theater
Which are a great addition to any boaters gear. My Sho-Gun is less than a year old never been in a pool, and mainly seen time in bigger water. Good paddle.

I've been stuck on the AT2 for the last few seasons. I get 2-3 seasons out of a paddle usually, although I broke one of Tina's AT's a few years ago... on a big falls. I like the feel better than the Werner's... something relating to the grip just feels a lot better to me.

Wood paddles are sweet too.
