Which new boat...

So I currently have a 14' cat, and I don't run anything over class three (yet). I do alot of fishing, and my boat seems to handle 2 guys just fine, but I would like to haul 3 or 4 total, or 2 in low water. I need a boat that I can backtroll (hold in 3-4 mph current) with, and cats seem to backtroll better than rafts. So given that info, is there a raft out there (haven't tried them all), or should I turn to an 18 foot cat? Basically, I'll need a boat that can haul 1200 lbs or so and still row easily. Does this boat exist? I'd like to stay away from drift boats.

Any info is greatly appreciated

have you considered a dory? Backtrolling 3 mph current with 2 to 3 extra ppl in a raft will make you a man! even Chuck Noris would hide from that. I think rafts like people more than cats do. But a good frame on a big o cat is hard to beat..

Drift boats (dories) are pretty sweet, but I'd much rather have something that I could tackle class 3/4 with and still backtroll without Chuck Norris on the sticks. I was looking at a leopard or diablo, capacity seems comparable, but which is more manueverable?

Anything with that load capacity is going to have tradeoffs, especially when loaded with people. A leopard would be fairly maneuverable and have good hull speed because it spreads out the load without having a floor dragging in the current. But I'm a whitewater guy, so you might want to wait for someone with more fishing experience to comment.
