Wavesport big ez for smaller paddler?

Hi, I'm new to whitewater so I need some advice. I'm looking to buy a used whitewater kayak to learn on. I came across a pretty good deal for a used wavesport big EZ but I was wondering if it was too big for a 5'8", 130lb paddler. The specs say 140-210lbs or something, but would 10lbs make a difference? I like to think I'm fairly strong for my size, so would that help at all or would the boat just be too big for me?

Thanks.
-Sean

The EZ line is a great line to learn in. I loved mine, and recommended them to a number of people who now love theirs. I would say though that a Big EZ would be too big for you. I'm 5'8" and 160 and once I learned how to play a little I was even thinking the regular EZ was too big, but that is because I wanted to get into play boating. I actually still to this day regret selling my EZ to buy a play boat. Wish I had it around for just river running. They are awesome boats.

I'm probably buying used. I just saw the big EZ with skirt for $450 and thought it was a pretty good deal.

you'll fit fine for length but will be a bit light for it. there was an ezg50 for less than that in the gear swap.

ah ok I'll check out the gear swap. Is it all local or do some people (somehow) ship their boats?

Looks like he's from Georgia. So unless people are willing to ship, he may not have luck with the swap here. 450 for an ez and skirt is not a good deal. 250-300 would be a good deal. I scooped my EZ up with a Werner paddle for 400 with shipping from Idaho to Pennsylvania about 3 years ago just to give you an idea.

Thanks for the advice guys. and yeah I live in GA so there really aren't any classifieds nearby. Any other ideas of where to look for a boat? craigslist is fairly limited in selection but I'll keep looking. Is it ever worth it to buy new?
