Load the front. Much like a gear raft, put 2/3rds of the weight in front of you and the other 1/3rd behind.

here are a few pics of kayaks loaded down for 7 days. You can get a good idea of weight distribution. The third one is more for scenery.

Why load the front ? Would it help spin outs? I went kayaking two weeks ago and my tandem wanted to spin out From the back constantly. Any tips??

When we did 6 days self supported on the Yampa, this is how I ran my boat. I put 2/3 of my gear behind me, and my butt just behind the center of the craft, allowing my paddle to be just in front of the center.

Although not the norm,I knew a guy who runs a two man Lynx down creeky stuff like Bailey and Clear Crk .of the Arkansas, ironically would not run CC of the So.Platte because of pollution issues..Even ran Supermax like it was nothing...He did big multi -days too Grand Canyon,Salmon,Yampa ,etc.,

I am large person and have easily done up to 3 days out of a one man Lynx .We even had to carry extra stuff like groove rs and fire pans to meet permit specs in some cases.I guess you need more room and stability to fish.

Yeah sometimes it's fun to run a rapid sitting on a thwart, standing up like an sup,or laying down with your head on the thwart and feet up on the tubes....don't get too cocky or you will get spanked.

I ran Chatooga section 3 last month on my new tandem Aire Outfitter. Loved it ! Iím very glad I bought the Werner powerhouse it helped me control the tandem running it solo ! I tried a smaller paddle and it was Miserable! Required so much strokes !! I pretty much hit every rapid sitting on top except for bulls sluice. Going on a trip again at the end of this month ! Canít wait!
