Stump Stove

Has anybody ever tried this? Seems kind of ingenious. There is a company up here in Montana selling stumps. Seems easy enough to just make a few. They claim they burn hot 4-5 hours. Put a rack over the top to cook ur dinner and u have an evening camp fire. Seems like a decent idea for 2-3 day float just make up a few and drag them with ya.

What a sweet idea. Too bad we'll likely be on fire ban all summer.

I built a Grover rocket stove. Too heavy for even raft or car camping, but great on the patio for fish frying!

I plan to try some of these "swedish candles" for summer car camping.

We take a version of the old boy scout buddy burner on steroids. You fill an big old pot with rolled up cardboard and totally douse it with wax. It will burn for hours you put it out and carry it with the lid of the pot and can recharge it with more cardboard. Takes a lot of wax the first time, but then you just keep adding the cardboard. It's nice when you don't want to clean the fire pan and want a little fire action. Just put the lid on, secure and take it with you.

The stump stove was a big hit. I drilled out a couple big logs to take on a Cali trip.
