Roof Rack for 97 camry....help

Hey I need a roof rack for my camry bad! I have been researching online different types of roof racks and have found so many different options and price ranges. I am only looking for the base rack systems that go across my roof and I have no exhisting bars. Universal Car Top Carriers those bars are dirt cheap! But I am also weary as to how reliable they are. Then here are some more racks Yakima Without Rain Gutter Towers at Rack Attack by yakima but are much more expensive. I also don't believe I have rain gutters on my car, not really sure what they are though. If anybody has advice or experience with this it would ge greatly appreciated. Also money is tight, so the cheaper the better

If you decide to go with Yakima and need 48" bars, I have a pair I'd let you have.

glad to hear gh made the right decision. yakima for life.

the only way mj's bars won't fit is if they are severely rusted and swelled increasing the diameter of the bar. the 48" bars will fit the Q towers and are probably the suggested size from the yakima fit guide, but i personally would always advise to buy the next larger size (58" in this case) to allow more gear hauling capacity. cut a few inches off with a hack saw if you think they are too long.

but, christmas in july is always a good thing. good karma for mj too. later.

Bars are in good shape. I also recommend 58" bars (which is why I have the extra 48" bars). Send me a PM if you want 'em.

pbowman: Glad the paddles are working out. I miss the raft sometimes!

Smauk,
Can I suggest one of the Rhino-Rack gutterless racks. Based in Denver, these guys can solve the problem with a great alloy aerodynamic rack. Part Nos DK110 and DA118 leg set. Cheers Think they are $269

Before you buy the Yakima stuff new you should check Craigslist in Denver. There is usually assloads of used Yakima stuff on there for less than 1/2 what you would pay retial. Check in the sporting goods and bike section.
