Pogies have the best paddle feel but have issues when stiff arming rocks and offer no protection off the river for scouts, portages and rescues. Mitts are the warmest with the worst paddle feel and marginal off river capabilities. Gloves work best off the river and offer slightly better paddle feel over mitts. I wear gloves most of the time, but have all three.

Second the glaciers. Just make sure you start with them dry, not wet and cold from yesterdays run.

Bomber Gear Creek Mits if you can still get them - couldn't stand gloves and hated all other pogies (this was 4 years ago).

Gloves. Currently using NRS Natural gloves but they are a little thin. I really liked the NRS Reactor glove and need to order another pair.

I have nrs maverick gloves, and also a pair of pogies(level 6 I think?) I use the gloves in the winter/early spring, and then switch to pogies only once the water has warmed up. It depends on when during the year you will be kayaking more. Also keep in mind that most pogies will let a lot of water in when you flip and only shed water when you stay upright. Just my $0.02.

Interesting. I've used them all, and I'm skinny and get cold easily. I've only used pogies for the past decade or so, and I use pogies pretty much all summer here in Colorado, where the water's generally cold.

Pogies all winter long in the pacnw. I like to be able to have bare hands quickly for recues, grabbing onto a rope while swimming, or clawing yourself out of an undercut.. Some pogies are hard to get your hands in and out of quickly, which is annoying. I've been using snapdragon hyper-hands for a few years and love them, they are easy to get your hands in and out and are incredibly warm.
