Anyone have advice/preferance on oar locks versus the pin and clip system?

Thanks!

Syrup is better than jelly, bacon is better than sausage, and "search" is your best friend

If you still ride your bike with training wheels then by all means go with pins and clips.

I have both. It don't mattah! Clips don't pop as easily, locks are easier to put the oars back in when they do pop. Locks are much easier to ship. The important thing is to not spend much time considering the issue, just go row your boat.
