pfd size

I am looking to get a rescue pfd this year. I am 5'7 and 140 pounds and am looking to get something that will fit me for a while. (still growing a lot) I am currently in a stohlquist S/M, but it is getting small on me and I keep finding some really good deals on some L/XL pfds. My chest is about 38 inches. Would I be able to cinch up a L/XL pfd to fit me or would this be too big?
Thanks,
Max

I wear a stohlquist descent s/m and I'm 5'10" and 145#. I still have room after all my cold water layers on. Unless you have tiny legs and a HUGE torso, I'd say a s/m should be good...
Are you maxing

Thanks for the replies. I have my pfd right now with the straps not tightened up very much, but it is pretty snug. I'm just making sure that if I go the small/medium route again I will fit for a while.

Just got a M/L Green Jacket. I'm 5'10" and 160lbs. Fit is great.
