Opinions on small diameter kayak paddle shaft???

I fell in love with small diameter paddle shafts years ago when I did substantially more "serious" kayaking/squirt boating than I do now, which is none. I really didn't think about it then much but I whipped out an old favorite small diameter shaft to do some crossover kayaking for a multi-day self support.

The love affair was renewed this past few days as I realized why I like small diameter shafts. It felt as comfortable and natural as my bent shaft full carbon Werner Kalliste that I use for sea kayaking. When I looked down at my grip I noticed that the small diameter fit my hands without forcing the "twist" in my wrist that a full size shaft required, hence a bent-shaft-feel-without-the-bend. Switching off with my SO she notice the same(she also has a bent shaft Kalliste). Also, during switching off her full diameter with my small diameter in an hours time I noticed "hot spots/white spots" in my palm, rubbing/callousing/blistering(perhaps I should "harden the "F" up" and paddle more).

We are in the process of ordering new Werner Stikines trending toward small diameter shafts. The question is... can anyone contribute opinions concerning their experience with small diameter shafts and for that matter Stikines vs other Werner WW blades?

Let's just say I'll head off snarky remarks by mentioning that small shafts means small hands hence small what-evers(like Trumps); so only serious feed back requested.

It's personal preference. Do what feels right to you.

Thanks Mike. Based on your advice I've decided to go with the Carbon Stikine, small diameter, two piece.
