NRS Frame question

I have a couple extra NRS frame action seat bars that I can pick up cheap.

Question 1:
Can I just take an angle grinder and cut off the square metal for the seat, then rotate the bar to make it essentially a footbar? Do I need to clearcoat where I have grinded?

Question 2:
With a pair of footbars, can I use the adjustable cooler/dry box mounts, or will the dip in the bar somehow interfere?

1. Yes, don't need to coat

2. No, you will have to use regular slings unless you have a very wide frame and a big ass cooler where the cooler length extends substantially beyond the bent parts.

Why don't you sell them and buy some straight pipe if you reall want cross bars for a cooler bay.

I figure it would be very tough to sell them out here in East TN. Fishing crowd uses them some, but they usually buy an entire package from NRS rather than piece things together.

You could also post them on boatertalk.com. There is a gear swap page there -> Resources-> GearSwap. Boatertalk is much more a east coast/SE board - Mountainbuzz is more Colorado/Rockies Mountain region oriented. NRS also has a used gear board you could post on -> Services -> Gear Swap.
