Need input for Female kayak buy.

I'm 5'2-5'3, 125 lbs. without gear, looking for my first kayak. Looking to do river running style, not interested in going beyond class 3 rapids.

Would the Liquid Logic 2008 Lil Joe be too large for me? I'm on the low end of the ideal weight range for it: (120-180lbs) and most people I see with this boat are taller and larger than me. Would this kayak be okay for my first one?

I'm most concerned with feeling secure, not difficult to roll, comfy ride.

Thanks!

I weigh 145 and paddled a lil joe for a bit, it was definitely too small for me. I think that boat should serve you well. If you are getting a decent price on it I'd say snag it!

Have a yellow Liquid Logic Cross River 80 available in Carbondale that would fit you. Check out the boat in All-Around Boats.

Thanks for the advice!

What's your thoughts on a Lil Joe vs. a Wavesport Diesel 65?

You'd be happier in a diesel. The lil joe will make you great at rolling because you'll be upside down a lot, they're kind of squirrely.

Unless the diesel is way more expensive, I'd go for the WS.

I would highly recommend the Diesel 60 over the 65 for your size. The diesel is very comfortable, easy to roll, and stable....a great beginner boat! I'm 5'5" and 135 lbs, and this boat is perfect for me, I went from a 65 to a 60 this year and am much happier with the smaller size as it is easier to handle.

agreed. It is worth spending a bit of extra cash now if you can find a remix 59 for a reasonable price. Great boat, super fun and friendly to paddle.

A Remix or Diesel sized properly for you and found on the used market would be a boat that would take care of you as you learn and be a go to kayak when you get on the river and in the rapids.
