momentum inflatable kayak

Have a chance to pickup a momentum 2 person IK in good shape. Have seen momentum rafts around the NW over the years. Only seen 1 post about these on the buzz. Anyone one have one? Like or not?

Uses by me:

extra boat for guests on week long raft trips on moslty Class III or less.

Self support kayak for various Owyhee segments at low water, and Deep Creek.

Possible Jarbidge/Bruneau trip some time.

Thanks for any input

If the price is right, I say go for it. Not the fanciest, best quality or highest performance, but it doesn't need to be for the uses you're proposing.

Slow Mo

Maybe if the price was really right. Kenaston had one in the late 80s. He thought it was a poor imitation of a bad design (Campways). Water pooled in the front and it was noticably slower than the Aire Lynx that came out about then, hence the nickname Slow Mo. We all bought Aires and never looked back. But Slow Mo was fairly stable and it would be better than nothing for guests.

checked out the momentum kayak today, didn't have any leaks as illustrated by soapy water spray test. Looked in good shape, didn't buy though, price was high for a 17 year old boat. On the phone the guy said he bought it new and it was 10 years old. However, on inspection the serial number indicated it was made in 1993, almost twice as old. I don't particularly like to be lied to so I called him out on that.

Yeah, don't buy from a guy who's lying. If you really want a good IK look for an AIRE. They last forever.

Agreed, I have an aire raft, but will have to find a good deal, hard to swallow 1300 for a double kayak new
