So what is your favorite lotion when on/around a river and why?

O'Keeffe's "Working Hands." Stays on, not too greasy.

I started using Cetaphil Moisturizing cream on hands and have been able to eliminate painful cracks on my finger tips during river trips. I use Super Salve on my heals. I think the key to anything is to apply often, 2 or 3 times a day, at least on hot, dry desert trips.
I also use leather gloves for the major rigging at the put in which, I think, helps keep your hands from getting dry and beat up.

AmLactin is pricey but works well - ask at the pharmacy counter, no prescription required. Chapstick applied to hands works to heal cracks. Lotions designed for swimmers also work well.

lotion...really? Even though I don't choose to rub sheep fat (lanolin) on my body, I'm still thinking that I am becoming one of those fat lazy rafters. On that note, I vow to make the upcoming season minimalist. Enough with discussing cooler management, or if there is enough water to run______. I vow to be responsible for myself and at the same time to toughen up a bit. Anyone with me?

Weleda Skin Food, best stuff ever and it has no petroleum in it. Remember if you wouldn't eat it don't put it on your skin -your skin is permeable.

"It rubs the lotion on its skin, or else it gets the hose again."
